I'm Maya, founder of Akai. I was born and raised in England, but I spent much of my childhood in India, a place that continues to shape who I am today. While England will always be home, India remains an inseparable part of my identity. Its colour, heritage, and deep cultural traditions left a lasting impression on me from an early age.

Jewellery has long held profound meaning within Indian culture. It is more than adornment; it is artistry, heritage, and storytelling passed through generations. Growing up surrounded by this richness sparked a deep appreciation in me for craftsmanship, intricate design, and the significance that jewellery can hold.
